Warren R. Phelps, Sr.

Warren R. Phelps, Sr, age 98, of Toledo, died December 15th, 2024.

Warren was born on February 8th, 1926 in Chicago, IL. He graduated as Lieutenant Colonel Battalion Commander from Roosevelt Military Academy in Aledo, IL and served in the Army of Occupation after WWII. As a First Lieutenant, U.S. Army Platoon Commander in 94th Constabulary Squadron he was stationed on the border of Germany and Czechoslovakia. In 1947 he married Patricia Bresnahan. He worked as an engineer at WGN Continental Broadcasting in Chicago for 38 years before retiring.

Warren loved to fish and to record family memories with photography and 8mm movie film. He and Patricia crafted Christmas items which they sold while part-time managing the Weathergate Gallery in Door County, Wl. They moved from Glen Ellyn, IL to Sun City West, AZ in 1988. There, they enjoyed many trips together and the company of good friends. After 51 years of marriage, Patricia passed away in 1999. In 2014, Warren moved to Toledo, OH to be closer to family. He made good friends as a member of St John XXII Catholic Community in Perrysburg. Through his jokes, stories, and even songs left on voicemail, he brought smiles to the faces of friends, family and caregivers alike. His love of the outdoors and travel lives on among all his family.

Warren was the father of five, a grandfather to nine, and a great-grandfather of five. He is survived by his sons Warren Phelps (Steven) of Chicago, IL, Ronald Phelps (Tamra) of Manchester. MO, Patrick Phelps of Chandler, AZ and Robert Clark-Phelps (Marie) of Perrysburg, OH, by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Donald and his granddaughter Christine.

Memorials may be made to the Society of St Vincent de Paul.

Friends and family will be received on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary St., Perrysburg, Ohio (419-874-3133). A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John XXIII, 24250 N. Dixie Hwy, Perrysburg, OH.

Arizona arrangements for interment next to Patricia to be made by Sunland Memorial Park, Sun City, AZ.
