Wanda Ruth (Olrich) Castleman, 63, of Toledo, Ohio, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday, August 14th, 2026, after a short battle with cancer.
Wanda was born on October 3rd, 1962 in Toledo, Ohio. She graduated from Whiteford High School, Ottawa Lake, MI in 1980 and went on to Ferris State University where she earned an associates degree in 1982.
On October 26, 2002, Wanda married the love of her life, John Castleman, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ottawa Lake, Michigan. Their union marked the beginning of a journey filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams.
Wanda's heart overflowed with love for her daughter, Fadia, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond that transcended the traditional mother-daughter relationship.
The majority of her career was dedicated to the medical field, where she worked as a medical transcriptionist and later as a data integrity technician, always striving to ensure the highest standards of accuracy and care.
Family vacations were a source of great joy for Wanda, particularly trips that involved a planned casino stop along the way. She also loved relaxing in the sun and enjoying fresh seafood with her husband John in Florida. She followed the Michigan Wolverines and Detroit Tigers with passion and enthusiasm.
Those who knew Wanda will remember her as a person who always put others first. She was a warm and kind-hearted soul, leaving behind a legacy of love and generosity.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Joyce Olrich; and her father-in-law Trevor Castleman.
Wanda is survived by husband John; daughter Fadia Olrich; siblings Dean (Kim) Olrich, June (Dave) Kretz and Pam (Mark) Sorensen; mother-in-law Sheila Castleman; sister-in-law Heather (Andrew) Jacob; and nieces and nephews.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Heartland Hospice for their care and compassion during the final weeks of Wanda's journey, especially her nurse Terri.
In honor of Wanda's wishes there will be no service at this time. Following cremation, a private celebration of Wanda's life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Wanda's memory to the Ovarian Cancer Connection https://ovarianconnection.org
