Walter Maurice Young

March 29, 1934 — March 1, 2024

Walter “Walt” Maurice Young, 89, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on March 1, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 29, 1934, in Brimfield, Ohio, to his late parents, Silas and Clarice (Yeo) Young. He graduated from Randolph High School and drove trucks for Roadway before becoming the driver superintendent where he worked until his retirement in 1995. On June 1, 1952, Walt married the love of his life, Donna Jean Waddell, where they shared 71 beautiful years of marriage together.

Walt was a hands-on type of man. He built multiple houses and had the ability to fix anything. He taught all his children (and even some grandchildren) how to drive, always sharing his wisdom. In his spare time, he always had to be working on something and could be found working in his garage or mowing the lawn on his John Deere (no other mower was acceptable). He loved cheering for the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes. During the last year he looked forward to snuggling and playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In respect to others, Walt was one of the kindest and most helpful people. He was full of integrity, honesty, patriotism, and had an undying love for his family. His kids will always remember him calling them to sing “Happy Birthday” on the phone. He was a hardworking man, affectionately known as a motorhead, and had the ability to do anything that he set his mind to. His love, advice, and impact will be passed on for generations. His goofiness, sentimental heart, and beautiful voice will be so incredibly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 71 years, Donna J. Young; daughters, Beth Ann (Mark) Scott, Christine (Jeff) Naramore, Robin (Sand) Weil; son, Walter Maurice (Lori) Young, Jr; grandchildren, Mitchell Scott, Michael Scott, Donna Scott, Makayla Scott, Justin Meredith, Sand Weil Jr., Chad Weil, Jacob Weil, Joshua Young, Eric Young, Tammy Young, Lindsay Young. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Michael Walter Young (Jacquie).
