Walter J. Stelnicki, age 71, passed away on December 2, 2024. Born on August 4, 1953, to Edward and Lucille (Rzadecki) Stelnicki, Walt grew up in the Toledo area. He graduated from Central Catholic High School and attended some college classes at the University of Toledo. Walt spent his career as the owner of Miss Lucille Catering. In 1983 he married the love of his life, Denise Lemerand. Denise and Walt spent the next 41 years together and raised two daughters.
Walt had a lifelong passion for racing. He enjoyed the thrill of racing slot cars and took his love for speed to the next level by racing dragsters at Milan Dragway and Norwalk Dragway. He also enjoyed watching sports and took pride in rooting for Detroit teams.
Known for his friendly and outgoing nature, Walt never met a person he wouldn’t talk to. He had a unique ability to connect with people from all walks of life, making friends wherever he went. Walt enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, and especially enjoyed traveling to his brother’s exotic animal farm in Florida. The farm was on of Walt’s “happy places.”
Walt also appreciated the simple pleasures in life. He enjoyed a good steak and a fine cigar, savoring these moments of relaxation and contentment. His zest for life, warm personality, and genuine kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Walt is survived by his wife, Denise; daughters, Lindsay (Joshua) Cork, and Lauren Stelnicki; grandchildren, Emma and Ethan Cork, and Hadley Stelnicki; and his brothers, Edward J. Stelnick, Dr. James V. Stelnicki, and Dr. Thomas D. Stelnicki.
Services will be held privately.
