Walter W Shimman, Jr.

Walter W. Shimman Jr. Walter W. Shimman Jr, formerly of Oregon, died peacefully May 30, 2013 at Orchard Villa Nursing Home. He was born on December 27, 1920 to Walter (Mamie) Shimman Sr. Walter worked through the International Union Local 18 Operating Engineers where he was a proud lifetime member. He enjoyed spending time at the Oregon Senior Center, an avid hunter, fisherman, bingo player, and camper. He was a devoted father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife: Clover, and son-in-law James Layman. Surviving are their children: Cheryl Layman, Roger (Joanne) Shimman, Edward (Nanci) Shimman, 7 Grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and brother: John Shimman. Friends will be received Monday June 3, 2013 in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home 701 N. Main St. Walbridge (419-666-3121) after 3 PM followed by the funeral at 6 PM. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Oregon Senior Center, Promedica Hospice, or St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Elmore at Woodville Rds.
