Walter H. Rettenberger of Oregon, OH passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at St. Charles Hospital. He was born on April 4, 1928 to Vitus and Katherine (Lang) Rettenberger in Toledo, Ohio. He proudly served his county in the United States Navy during WWII. Walter was a Tool and Die Maker for Toledo Pipe Threading Company for many years. He was a lifetime member of Dunberger Post 537 and a lifetime member of the NRA. He is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Jean; daughter, Mary Kay Ruhlman; and brother, Fred Rettenberger. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Michael (Shelly) Rettenberger, Beverly (Richard) Bernath, Cynthia (John) Ciampa, Pamela (Scott) Fuller, Rollie (Sandy) Stahl; grandchildren, Christopher and Jacob, Ryan and Rachel, Ryan and Cody, Ettore and Sara, Kevin and Andrew, Tyler and Kylee; several great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; and sisters, Marge (Fred) Kohn, Marian (Ron) Gladieux. Visitation will take place at Hoeflinger-Bolander Funeral Home, 3500 Navarre Ave., Oregon, OH on Monday, May 22, 2017 from 3-8 P.M. with an American Legion service to be held at 7 P.M. Prayers will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 9:15 A.M. with a funeral procession to follow to St. Ignatius Parish, 212 Stadium Road, Oregon, Ohio, with a funeral mass to begin at 10 A.M. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the St. Ignatius Building Fund or Dunberger Post 537 of the American Legion.
