Walter W. Henry

Walter W. Henry, 97, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, formerly of Fremont, Ohio, died Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at Westbrook Assisted Living in Upper Sandusky. Walter was born June 15, 1919, in Kingsway, Ohio, to Simon R. and Luella (Humphrey) Henry. On September 14, 1945, in Lacarne, Ohio, he married Mary Jane Moore and she survives. Walter served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1942-45. He had worked for the railroad and the Fuller Brush Co. Walter took pride in the fact that he had worked all his life and worked hard and yet was a wonderful father. He enjoyed making homemade wine, was an avid gardener, an avid reader, and a great promoter of education. In addition to his wife of 70 years, Mary Jane, Walter is survived by his children, Marcia (Ron) Sergot of Lake Havasu, AZ, Brenda (Tim) Teply of Overland Park, KS, Peggy Dolinger of Upper Sandusky, OH, William (Barbara) Henry of Toledo, OH, and Malla (Dan) Bauer of Livingston, MT; eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, Eleanor, and sister, Oletha M. Artino. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Sunday, July 24, 2016, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. The funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home, 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 25, 2016; burial will follow in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor, with military graveside services.
