Walter J. Gladieux, age 89 of Monclova, OH passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio surrounded by his loving family. Walter was born in Toledo on May 20, 1921 to Martin and Julia Griessinger Gladieux. Walter married Lucille Gehring on Feb. 14, 1942 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He and Lucille moved to Monclova in 1949. Walter was drafted into the U.S. Army serving in the paratroopers making 15 jumps required to get his wings. He then changed over to the Air Force and served as a gunner on a B52 Bomber. Walt owned and operated Gladieux Painting for 35 years retiring in 1983. He served as a Monclova Township Trustee and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maumee, Knights of Columbus 4th degree, VFW, and the Maumee Elks. Walt enjoyed spending time with his family, golf and especially traveling. A loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew him. They spent the last 25 years wintering in Okeechobee, Florida. Walter is survived by his wife, Lucille; children, Gregory Gladieux, Martin Jennifer Gladieux, Richard Mary Gladieux, Jane Lance Fuller, Carol Jeff Schuster and Walter Gladieux, Jr.; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
