Walter Harry Faust

Walter Harry Faust Jr., son of the late Walter and Julia Faust died on December 5th at the age of 67 at home surrounded by his family after a courageous year long battle with cancer. Walt worked at Guardian Industries for 34 years, retiring as a packaging engineer from what he always referred to as a wonderful company in 2004. He fondly recalled his early years growing up in the north end of Toledo surrounded by his four sisters and one brother. After high school he traveled the world as a member of the US Navy and married his wonderful wife of nearly fifty years. Walt was happiest when he was fixing something. He loved spending countless hours working in his garage and in his yard. He was an avid woodworker, gardener, mechanic, self-proclaimed weather man, sports fan-Go Bucks, loved writing letters to the editor of the Toledo Blade, and still always made time for a few rounds of golf. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Rhodus; his children, Brad Faust of Columbus, OH; Michael Faust of Toledo, and Sheri Schober Rob Sumey of Livoina, MI; grandchildren, Douglas Schober Betsy, Nicole Rupert Mark and Hunter Faust; great-grandchild, Austin Rupert and one on the way; sisters, Marie Brewer John of Toledo, Marilyn Elliott, Donald of Toledo, Rosemary Elliott, Robert , Linda Mayo Ronald of Maumee and brother, Mark Faust Tina of Toledo. Friends may call at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey on Tuesday from 2-8 PM. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held Wednesday at 10 AM in St. Clements Church. Please meet at church. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
