Wade D. Bower, Sr.

Wade D. Bower, Sr., 73, of Genoa, Ohio, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Mercy-St. Charles Hospital after a lingering illness. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on June 7, 1949, the son of LaMar and Merivene (Heldt) Bower. He graduated from Genoa High School in 1967 and served his country during the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army.

Wade retired from NES in Perrysburg, Ohio and had previously worked for Gordon Lumber and Siglar & Sieving Plumbing Co. He was also a past member of the former Clay-Genoa Volunteer Fire Department.

Wade was always a true Genoa Comets fan. During high school he played Basketball and golf and was a fixture on the sidelines of almost any sporting event played by Genoa. He never missed a football, basketball or baseball game. Wade, for many years, played in league golf in Elmore at Sugar Creek Golf Course and bowled in leagues in Elmore and Woodville. He and his son enjoyed attending sprint car races in Attica and Fremont and helped Dave Marko with his late model race car. While he enjoyed playing sports, he was also an avid Ohio State, New York Yankees, and Indianapolis Colts fan.

Wade is survived by his son, Wade D. Bower, Jr., brother, Neil (Debbie) Bower and niece Nadine Bower. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Diana Bower.
