W. Duane Duncan

W. Duane Duncan, 73, of Catawba Island, passed away, Monday, August 20, 2012 at The Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH. Duane was born on November 08, 1938 in Decatur, IL, the son of William J. and Irene Schobe Duncan. He attended Louisiana State University and the University of Illinois. Duane was a mechanical engineer. He was the executive vice president of Packaging Corp. of America from 1962-1987 25 years and the vice president of Carton Service Corp. of Shelby, OH from 1987-2001 14 years. Duane was married to Leslie Aquista for 26 years and she survives. He was a member of Colony Club Harbor Assoc. for 20 years and was known as the mayor of Colony Club. Duane was a 25-year member of the Catawba Island Club and was a member of The Cliffs Valley in Travelers Rest, SC and Gulf Harbour in Fort Myers, FL. He loved Catawba and his kids were everything to him. Duane was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and everything outdoors. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Survivors include: Wife, Leslie Duncan; Sons, Rev. Michael Cathy Duncan of Fort Atkinson, WI and David Christine Duncan of Valparaiso, IN; Daughter, Elizabeth Timothy Fehr of Minocqua, WI; Step-Son, Richard Julie Bernard of Centerbury, OH; Grandchildren, Sarah Rev. James Douglas, Rebecca Andrew Wilson, David Rachel Duncan, Mary Jon Lindloff, Elizabeth Chris Buskirk, Megan Chad Henry, Justin Duncan, Hannah Duncan, Seth Fehr, Abigail Fehr, Jaelynn Bernard; Great-Grandchildren, Anna, Noah and Ethan Wilson, Emma and Jacob Douglas, Micah and Grace Duncan and Lily Henry; Mother, Irene Duncan; Brothers, William J. Margaret Duncan and David P. Sherry Duncan; many loving nieces and a nephew. Duane was preceded in death by his father, William J. Duncan, grandson, Timothy Timmy Fehr and nephew, David C. Duncan. Visitation will be 3-8PM, Thursday, August 23, 2012 in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton, OH 43452. Funeral services will be conducted by his son, Rev. Michael Duncan at 11:00AM, Friday, August 24 in the funeral home. Interment will be in Catawba Island Cemetery.
