Virginia Marie Smith, age 98, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025. She was born on May 22, 1926, in Toledo, OH, to Floyd Conrad and Julia Carter, Virginia lived a life full of love, creativity, and adventure.
A devoted mother, grandmother, and mentor, Virginia cherished her family above all else. Her warmth and wisdom touched the lives of many, leaving a legacy of love and kindness.
Virginia was a talented artist, expressing her creativity through drawing, painting, ceramics, and sculpture. Her works of art brought joy and inspiration to those who had the privilege of experiencing them.
She had a deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors, often enjoying family vacations camping and exploring the beauty of the world around her. Virginia loved walking in the Metroparks, bird watching, and had a cherished tradition of having a picnic every New Year's Day.
A genealogy enthusiast, Virginia spent countless hours researching and preserving her family's history, ensuring that future generations would know and appreciate their heritage.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Smith, Sandra (Bob) Belkofer, and Becky Connors; grandchildren, Jodi, Katherine, Heidi, and Nancy; and 7 great-grandchildren. Virginia was preceded by her parents; husband, Jim Smith; sister, Barbara Daley; son-in-law, Pat Connors; and grandson, Ben Connors.
Family and friends may visit Tuesday, January 28, 2025, from 4-7 pm at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. The Funeral Services for Virginia will be Wednesday, January 29, 2025, beginning at 10 am in the funeral home and continuing with the Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sylvania at 11 am. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
