Virginia Margaret Brown, of Perrysburg, Ohio, died January 27, 2026.
She leaves her daughter, Margaret “Molly” Hallett (husband, Kirk); daughter-in-law Karin Moll; grandsons, Thomas and Charles Hallett; Brother-in-Law, Robert Brown (Ruthie); nephew: David Coon (Jacqueline) Timothy Brown Jr.; and nieces: Barbara Florance, Peggy Barrows, Anne Barrows (husband, Bill), Peggy Brown, Julie Brown (husband, Paul), Kazzie Brown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Brown; son, Richard Marshall Brown; mother, Virginia Coon; father, Robert Coon; brother, Robert “Bob” Coon (wife, Barbara); sister, Elizabeth Barrows; Brother-In-Law, Timothy Brown (wife, Trisha); nephews, Robert “Rob” Coon and Teddy Brown.
Virginia “Ginger” was born in Petoskey, Michigan on July 31, 1945 while the family was vacation. She lived in Perrysburg, Ohio her entire life. She attended and graduated from Maumee Valley Country School. She was a ballet dancer, cheerleader, and played field hockey. She attended one year at Pine Manor College, when her father passed away she came back home and completed her education at The University of Toledo with a bachelors in political science. While she was in college, she joined the Chi Omega sorority. After college, she joined the Toledo Chapter of the Junior League. She met her husband at a beach party while at her summer house.
She worked a year at Genoa High School teaching Spanish. She then enjoyed being a stay at home mom until her children, Marshall and Molly were old enough to attend grade school. She volunteered at the neonatal department at Toledo Hospital. Her daughter was in that department for many months, she understood what the parents were going through and she wanted to let the families know that they were not alone. Then she found employment at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church. She started as a secretary and moved up to Pastoral Assistant. While there she led the Jr and Sr High Youth Groups, started a women’s spirituality group called “Women on the Journey”. She became active in the Youth Ministries at the diocesan level of the Episcopal Church. She helped with the planning and leading the conferences and conventions. She ran a yearly rummage sale, set up a work camp for the youth group in the Appalachian Mountains, and learned about the coal mines. She loved helping with the Senior Tea, later in life she enjoyed volunteering at the Close Line Ministry at St. Timothy’s Church.
Visitation for Virginia “Ginger” will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 4 to 7:00 pm, at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, Ohio. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 11:00 am at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church at 871 East Boundary Perrysburg, Ohio 43551. Memorial donations in her honor may be made to the R. Marshall Brown Foundation at The Greater Toledo Community Foundation.
