Virginia Ruth Binkley, 83, of Toledo, Ohio passed away Monday, August 1, 2011 at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Virginia was born on August 3, 1927 in Toledo, Ohio to Edward and Henrietta Sohnly. A graduate of Central Catholic High School and Mary Manse College, she served as an organist at St. Louis Catholic Church in the 1940s and was also a 5th grade teacher in St. Louis, MO while her husband Robert attended medical school. Virginia was very active with the Wildwood Manor House at Wildwood Preserve Metropark where she volunteered for over 25 years. She served as a docent at the Manor House and was editor of the Manor House newsletter for many years. She enjoyed reading, traveling, music and bridge along with the company of her many friends from high school and college. Surviving is her husband of 61 years, Robert along with son Robert and Lois Binkley of Waxhaw, N.C., daughter Karen and Terry Taylor of Temperance, MI, daughter Susan and Jeff Fay of Jamestown, N.C., son David and Merry Jo Binkley of Larkspur, CA, and daughter Claudia and Darren Clark of Raeford, N.C. Also surviving are her 12 loving grandchildren Lauren Selleck, Kevin Fay Sarah, Christopher Selleck, Beth Mockensturm Josh, Gretchen Selleck, Hannah Selleck, Douglas Fay, Ellen Fay, Carrie Fay, Mark Fay, Timothy Taylor and Jessica Taylor. Visitation will be held Thursday August 4th from 2 PM to 8 PM at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where a scripture service will be held at 7:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Friday, August 5th at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Sylvania, OH. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Virginia was a loving wife, mother and friend. Those who had the pleasure of knowing her were blessed by her warmth, kindness and mirth. She had the gift of making all in her company feel her love and gentleness. The family wishes to give special thanks to Sr. Patti Langenderfer, Lyne McIlargey and the staff at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio. The family asks that in lieu of flowers and gifts that donations are made to Heartbeat of Toledo, The Cherry St. Mission or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
