Virginia L. Barshel, 91, of Graytown, Ohio, died Saturday, November 12, 2011, in the Riverview Health Care Campus, Oak Harbor. Ginny was born March 11, 1920, in Toledo, Ohio, to George G. and Pearl Mae Morris Kern. On March 8, 1941, in Elliston, Ohio, she married Rollin F. Barshel, who died November 30, 2009. Ginny was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Elliston where she attended S.T.A.R and the Progressive Sunday School Class. She served on the Ottawa County Board of Elections and was a member of Grange. She enjoyed reading, gardening, boating, vacationing and working along side her husband on the family farm. A homemaker, Ginny loved her family and planning for holiday meals. She will be truly missed this holiday season and always. Ginny is survived by her daughters, Beverly Harry Blausey of Newark, OH, and Gloria Buck, of Walbridge, 5 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters: LaVern Zwicker Irene Nissen and brother: Bliss Kern. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., with the family present 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, November 16, 2011, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 17, 2011, in Zion United Methodist Church, Elliston, with interment to follow in Elliston Cemetery. The family has suggested memorials for Ginny to Zion United Methodist Church, the Hospice of NW Ohio, or the American Heart Association.
