Virginia Barlos

November 25, 1926 — October 1, 2010

Virginia Barlos age 83 of formerly of Maumee, passed away on Friday, October 1st, 2010 at the Parkcliffe Care Center. Toledo. Virginia was born in McCaysville, GA on November 25, 1926 to Stavros Steve and Katherine Sfakianos Morris. She was employed with the Ohio Lottery for 19 years as the regional secretary, retiring in 1994. Virginia co-owned along with her husband, Michael the Lorraine Coffee Shop and Apollo Restaurant. Virginia grew up as a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, a church community that she served in numerous capacities her entire life. As a member of the Greek Ladies Philoptochos Society of Holy Trinity Cathedral, Virginia served on the Board of Directors and volunteered her services helping with boxes for shut-ins, memorial luncheons and as a chairman for various events for the organization. Her memberships also included the Daughters of Penelope, Tenedian Brotherhood, Holy Trinity Young at Heart, Lucas County Democratic Party, Maumee Democratic Club, Federated Democratic Women of Ohio, Democratic Business and Professional Women, Lourdes Auxiliary and the Opera Guild, Surviving are her children, Margo Michael Foldes, Harry S. Jenny Barlos; grandchildren, Michael and Graham Barlos and Maya, Adam and Peter Foldes; Also surviving is her brother, Pete S. Alfreda Morris; sister in-law, Barbara Morris and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael; her parents; brothers, Gus, Johnny, George, Greg and step-father, Anthony Pilateris. Friends and family will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home 501 Conant St. Maumee on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 from 3:00 pm until the time of Trisagion services at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral 740 Superior St. Toledo. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association. The family would like to thank the staff at the Parkcliffe Community and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the exceptional care Virginia received the past 2 1/2 years.
