Virginia M. Ginny Nissen, 85, of Williston, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her residence on Thursday evening, May 12, 2011. She was born in Jerusalem Township, Ohio on March 27, 1926 to Jesse and Cynthia Deleo Mominee. She married Harold A. Nissen in Williston, Ohio on November 27, 1947 and he preceded her in death. Ginny had worked for Libbey Glass and as a cook for the Allen Central School; part of the Genoa Area Local School District. She had worked for many years at Chippewa Golf Course. She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Williston, Ohio. Ginny enjoyed being outside and working in her yard. She also liked to play all types of card games, working on puzzles, and was an avid bowler. Her favorite pastime was loving her grandchildren. She always remembered their special days with cards; whether it was an anniversary, birthday, or just to say hi. Ginny also liked to crochet and in her spare time she created many beautiful afghans which she gave to all of her grandchildren and many other family members. Survivors of Ginny include her children, Dennis Sandy Nissen, Alan Kay Nissen, Gary Kris Nissen, Pam Mike Threet, grandchildren, Chad Tina, Andrea Tim, Crystal, Nicole Bob, Courtney Jamie, Jill, Michael Allison, Trent, Chelsea, Troy, and Kurt, great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Cole, Ariana, Connor, Abby, and Emily, along with her brother Bob Mominee, and sister Eunice Merle Kettinger. Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, husband, great-grandson, Caleb, siblings, Pearl, Opal, Lawrence Cork, Jeanette, Genevieve Fluff, Don, and Catherine Kate. A funeral service for Ginny will be conducted at 11 AM, Tuesday, May 17, 2011 in St. John Lutheran Church, Williston, with interment to follow in the Allen Township cemetery, Williston. Visitation will be in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St. Genoa, OH, from 2-8 PM on Monday, May 16, 2011. The family suggests memorials in Ginnys name, be directed to the Allen Clay Joint Fire District Station #1, Williston, or to the church.
