Virgil Glenn Schultz

Virgil Glenn Schultz, 84, of Oak Harbor died Friday, December 19, 2008 at St. Charles Mercy Hospital, Oregon, OH. He was born on June 2, 1924 in Oak Harbor to William and Elizabeth Goetz Shultz. On January 29, 1948 in Oak Harbor he married Vera Avery, and she survives. Virgil worked for Bingham Stamping in Toledo for 38 years and for Davis Besse in Oak Harbor for 15 years. Virgil was a U.S. Army Veteran who served during World War II. He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, VFW Post #8732 of Oak Harbor, and American Legion Post #114 of Oak Harbor. Virgil enjoyed playing cards and mowing his lawn with his riding mower. Virgil is survived by his loving wife of over 61 years, Vera; son: Gerald Jerry Jean Schultz of Oak Harbor; daughter-in-law: Susie Schultz-Phillips of Oak Harbor; 4 grandchildren: Richard, Stacey, and Brian Schultz and Desiree-Weidner; 8 great grandchildren: Cody, Cameron, Connor, and Landon Schultz, Trevor Wasserman, Reagan and Cooper Schultz, and Kaleb Wood; special nieces and nephews; and special friend: Mary Young. He was preceded in death by his parents, son: Glenn Schultz, brothers: Clarence and Ralph Schultz; and sisters: Erma McDaniel, Lorretta LaFountain, and Virginia LaFountain. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor with Pastor Keith Hunsinger officiating. Visitation will be Monday, December 22, 2008 from 2-8 p.m., with family present from 2-4 6-8 p.m., at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Oak Harbor. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor with military graveside services conducted by the Oak Harbor American Legion and VFW. Memorial contributions in memory of Virgil may be given to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church General Fund or the donors choice.
