Virgil K Bringman

Virgil Kenneth Bringman, 93, of Maumee, Ohio, passed away on August 31, 2014 at Perrysburg Commons where he had been a resident for the past year. He was born September 7, 1920 in Wood County, Ohio, to parents Homer and Julia Bringman. He was a graduate of Lake High School class of 1938. He served his country during WW II as an Aviation Metalsmith First Class. His military service took him to Italy and French Morroco, and then to Memphis, TN. It was there he met the love of his life, Florence who was also serving her country as a Wave in the U.S. Navy. They married in Pemberville on June 21, 1945. Virgil worked for Owens-Illinois (Kimble Glass Division) and AP Parts where he retired as superintendent of manufacturing in 1973. Upon retirement, Virgil began a second career in real estate working for DiSalle Realty/Coldwell Banker. Virgil was a member of the Masons/Zenobia Shrine since 1974 where he served on the Director’s Staff unit. He was a devoted and long-time member of Hope Lutheran Church since 1951. He and Florence traveled to Japan, Hong Kong, England, Germany, France, Switzerland and throughout the United States. For over 30 years, he and Florence wintered in Naples, Florida where he was able to play his favorite sport, golf. He was a member of Valleywood Golf Club for over 50 years recording a hole-in-one in 2007 at the age of 87. Virgil enjoyed watching sports and was a loyal fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Indians. He was a member of the Wolf Creek YMCA where he looked forward to exercising every morning and talking to his friends who frequently referred to him as “Mr. Mayor”. Virgil was preceded in death by his parents and brother Marvin. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Florence, their three daughters, Patricia (Bruce) Foster, Sue (James) Pedro and Cathy Stutttle. Also surviving are grandchildren Corey Tracey, Bradley and Bennett Brown, Stacey and Carley Stuttle and Erin Pedro; great-grandchildren, Keegan and Ainsley Tracey and Elsa Brown. The family will welcome friends at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home 501 Conant St. Maumee on Wednesday from 3-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 AM in Hope Lutheran Church at the Corner of Secor and Indian Roads in Ottawa Hills.
