Viola R. Smithberger

Viola R. Smithberger, 89, of Oak Harbor, died Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky. She was born on December 17, 1926, in Lacarne, Ohio, to Otto and Lena (Harding) Warnke. On May 1, 1954, in Miltonsburg, Ohio, she married Paul J. Smithberger and he preceded her in death on March 3, 2003. Viola was a longtime member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor. She worked at Standard Products in Port Clinton for 40 years. Viola was very dedicated to her family and friends and will be greatly missed. Viola is survived by nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Arthur, Raymond and Otto Warnke, and sisters, Minnie Sokolowski and Lois Burke. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Monday, February 15, 2016, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor, with a Parish Wake Service at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Tim Ferris 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, where the body will lie in state from 9-10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. The family has suggested memorials for Viola to St. Boniface Catholic Church, 215 Church St., Oak Harbor, OH 43449.
