Viola Ann Elekonich

April 3, 1928 — July 21, 2017

Viola Ann (Chorba) Elekonich, age 89, of west Toledo passed away Friday, July 21, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Born April 3, 1928, she was the youngest of seven children to Miklos and Susanna (Benjo) Csorba in Pittsburgh, PA. After graduating from Taylor Allderdice High School in Pittsburgh, her family moved to Toledo, OH in 1946. In 1951 God gave her the love of her life, John who preceded her in death in 1999. They were blessed with three children, Susan, Chris and Nancy. Viola worked for Tiedtkes for 10 years, retiring to raise their children. She returned to work for Fuller & Henry Law firm for 19 years. She was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church since 1956. She was also a member of Salesians, St. Vincent De Pauls 55 Plus, The St. Francis Guild and a birthday club with her very close and special friends. Viola was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John; daughter, Susan Picknell; parents; sisters, Bertha Bert Freeland , Helen and Margaret Chorba; brothers, Michael, Joseph and Paul Chorba. A wonderful and loving mother, Viola leaves behind her cherished family, son, Chris (Sheila) J. Elekonich; daughter, Nancy A. Campbell. She enjoyed life and reveled in spending time with her grandchildren, Amy and Jennifer Picknell and Corey Campbell; and took great pride in all their talents and accomplishments. Also left to cherish her memory are a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, cousins, as well as many wonderful and dear friends. Friends may visit the family on Monday, July 24, 2017 from 2 until 8 PM at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Avenue. The Salesians will recite the Rosary at 4 PM and a Scripture service will take place at 7 PM. Funeral services will begin with prayers at the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Clement Catholic Church, 3030 Tremainsville Rd Toledo, OH 43613. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Clement Catholic Church.
