Vincent Aloysius Sattler

Vincent A. Sattler, age 92, passed into eternal life on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Toledo Hospital in the presence of family and holding hands with his loving wife of 70 years, Ruth Ann (Schmidlin). He was born September 2, 1924 in Perrysburg, Ohio to Aloysius and Cecelia Sattler and lived in Toledo all his life. Vincent graduated from Perrysburg High School and worked at Libby-Owens-Ford in Rossford over 30 years before retiring in 1982. He also operated a successful cut flower business and was a familiar figure to many of the local florists selling gladiolus in the summer. He was active in the Northwest Ohio Gladiolus Society and he served as a past president. He was a long-time parishioner of St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Parish where he served as an usher for many years. He is survived by his loving wife Ruth Ann, sons, David (Terry), Paul (Nancy), Eugene (Christy), Christopher (Joanne) Sattler; daughters, Nancy (Richard) Osenbaugh, Carol (Brian) Griffith, and Lori (Tony) Lipscomb; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and his brother Charles (Nancy) Sattler of Toledo. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers; Donald, Norman and LaVern Sattler; son-in-law, Tom Osenbaugh and his granddaughter, Rebecca Thies. Friends will be received on Sunday, April 2, 2017 from 3:00 to 8:00 pm at Neville Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland, Ohio (419-865-8879) where Scripture services will be held at 7 pm. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home with prayers on Monday, April 3, 2017 at 9 am and proceed to St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Catholic Church located at 4201 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo, Ohio for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 am. Memorial contributions may be made to either St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Catholic Church or to Providence Lutheran Church.
