Vincent Joseph Morgillo, Sr., 66, of Northwood, passed away after fighting his illness with everything he had, all while keeping a smile on his face. He was born in Toledo to Constantine Vincent and Mary Elizabeth (Dubry) Morgillo on August 23, 1954. Throughout his life, Vince strived to make people happy and smile. He was always willing to help someone in need. His ability to fix anything he came into contact with was unsurpassed. From Tiger Cubs to Eagle Scouts, Vince was present and active as a mentor, eventually becoming Troop Master. He was a simple, hardworking, and genuine man; everyone who met him became family. He was at every school or sporting event that his children and grandchildren were involved in. He was the supportive and encouraging voice that everyone loved to hear. He was a pillar not only in his family, but also in the community. Vince was key in local organizations including being on the board for Genoa Wrestling Club, the Cardinal Stritch CCW Wrestling Club, and the yearly National Middle School Duals tournament. He helped and guided students and young athletes to be their very best. Vince enjoyed archery and was also part of the New Sportsman Club, where he enjoyed working on marksmanship (although his favorite place to practice shooting was his own yard). He was proud of his beautifully landscaped yard that he and his wife worked to design, along with their home. Vince enjoyed hunting and loved going fishing; especially with his brother, Bob, and his grandchildren. He could often be found in his garage or workshop doing any household or yard projects, or happily working on anything mechanical or automotive. To relax, Vince took pleasure in visiting his family’s cottage at Sand Beach. He loved wildlife and nature’s beauty. He received his degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Toledo. His goal was to always be self-reliant; always working to provide value to others while he, himself, stayed modest. Vince proudly retired from DANA, Inc. where he was a Global Director of Quality, and received the Malcom Baldrige National Quality Award from President Bush as they shook hands. Vince is survived by his loving wife of nearly 43 years, Linda (Appling) Morgillo; children, Andy, Vincent, Jr., Dustin, and Tiffany Morgillo; grandchildren, Isabella, Dustin II, Sage, Marisol, Antonio, Mia-Angelina, Angel, Phoenix, and Angela Mer Morgillo; mother, Dr. Mary Elizabeth Dubry Morgillo; siblings, Bob “Chirpus” (Alison) Morgillo, Sharon (Rick) Clevenger; many nieces and nephews; countless friends and extended family members; and his loving canine companion, Coy-Coy. He was also loved by many in-law family members whom he also adored. Vince will be greatly missed by not only his blood relatives; but also by the honorary family members he claimed as his own. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Constantine “Andy” and Angeline Morgillo; maternal grandparents, Earl and Clara Dubry; father, Constantine Vincent Morgillo; father-in-law, Glen D. Appling; and sister-in-law, Tammy Buehler. Unfortunately, due to the current health crisis, services will be held privately. Vince will be laid to rest near his father in Calvary Cemetery, Toledo. Being the incredible man he was, the family plans to have a Celebration of Life in the future when all those who loved him can come and safely be together. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations please be made to the Lake Erie Protection Fund or to USA Wrestling. Arrangements were handled by Walker Funeral Home – Oregon Chapel (419-691-6768). Please share stories and memories with the family by visiting walkerfuneralhomes.com. And as always, remember to stay “Morgillo Strong!”
