Vincent "Vince" Debo, a lifelong resident of Maumee, Ohio, passed away on July 9, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on July 29, 1942, to Howard and Laura (Reinsel) Debo, Vince grew up in a lively household where his siblings affectionately nicknamed him "Shortstop" when he was young.
Shortly after graduating from Macomber High School, where he learned the carpentry trade, Vince married his high school sweetheart, Judy (Kazmaier) Debo. Together, they built a long life rooted in devotion to one another and their growing family.
Vince was a talented craftsman who spent his life building. He began his career as a rough carpenter and framer of new homes before working with Debo Brother Builders and later operating Debo Construction. His legacy is physically woven into the community: he built three of the homes he lived in with his family, as well as homes for two of his children. Today, two of his grandchildren reside in houses built by his hands, and many family members cherish the custom furniture he crafted for them.
Aside from his work, Vince was an avid reader, with a particular interest in religious books and histories of the Great Lakes. This love for the lakes began in his youth, when he spent many weeks aboard lake freighters with his mother and father.
Above all else, Vince valued his faith and his family. He was a 70-year parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maumee, and can be credited with hanging the crucifix over the altar that remains there today. Vince was incredibly proud of his 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and he will be remembered simply as the best husband, dad, and grandfather. His steady presence will be deeply missed.
Vince was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Howard (Eleanor) Debo, Robert (Judy) Debo, Mary (Robert) Cox, and Laura (Dave) Alley; and grandchildren, Ryan Cleghorn, and Autumn Debo. He is survived by his loving wife, Judith Debo; children, Vincent "Vince" Debo, Lisa (Todd) Cleghorn, and Laura (Thomas) Suder; grandchildren, Chad (Ally) Debo, Chelsea Debo, Hunter Debo, Reed Debo, Bella (Steve) Beyer, Dominic Debo, Dylan Cleghorn, Kaylin (Jake) Newcomer, Jayson (Allie) Cleghorn, Jessie (Heath) Jackson, Missa (Ryan) Hill, Jacob Suder, Meghan Suder, and Jenna Suder; and 12 great-grandchildren.
To honor Vince's wishes, services will be held privately.
