It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Victor J. Proffitt, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Vic passed away on March 22, 2025, at the age of 78.
Born on June 27, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of Travers Proffitt and Margaret Regina (Osbourn) Proffitt. A dedicated and brave Marine, Vic served in Vietnam with distinction and earned numerous medals and honors for his service, including the Presidential Unit Citation.
Vic pursued a distinguished education, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. He began a successful career in banking and became a pillar in the industry for the next 35 years. With most of his banking career with Fifth Third Bank, Vic was known for his drive, strength, and resilience.
Vic also gave generously to charities, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation and The Salvation Army, where he served as Board Chair. Additionally, Vic was strong in his faith and was an active parishioner at St. Joan of Arc, where he assisted in distributing Holy Communion, particularly to those who are sick, homebound, or unable to attend Mass.
Vic is survived by Judith Vetter Proffitt, his beloved wife of 57 years; his children Stephanie (John) Donahue; Jennifer (Mikhael) Ser; Michael (Tiffany) Proffitt; and Rebecca (Michael) Sharpe. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Katie (Paul) Rockocy; Bridget (fiancé Logan Kocianic) Donahue; Elijah Carey and Jason Ser; Gabrielle and Owen Proffitt; Elizabeth and Andrew Sharpe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Thomas G. Proffitt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on April 5, 2025, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, located at 5856 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo, OH 43614 at 11:00 a.m. All who knew him are welcome to pay their respects and share stories of a remarkable man who lived life to the fullest.
