Victor Dale Loertscher

Victor Dale Loertscher, 97, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2014 at the Franciscan Care Center, Toledo. He was born September 28, 1916 in Elmore to the late David F. and Louise Bodeman Loertscher. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in Europe with the 94th Infantry Division. Victor married Nellie Gene Cooper on July 4, 1941 and she preceded him in death on September 29, 2004. He was a devoted and loving husband. Together they enjoyed many trips and hours of service at Chopin Hall in Findlay. Victor spent his career in the retail grocery business, mostly in Findlay. He owned his own grocery store in Gibsonburg and managed supermarkets for Kroger and Seaway Food Town in Northwest Ohio. He was a long time member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church, Findlay. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Charles; and brother, Robert. He is survived by two brothers; Donald of Bucyrus and Paul Audrey of Oak Harbor; three children, Ruth Stefko, Blairsville, GA, Jean Sonny Knapp, Toledo and David Susan Loertscher, Grandview, IN; nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 10-11 a.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd., Toledo, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 29, 2014. Military honors and interment will follow at Harris Elmore Union Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project.
