Vickie Ellen (Kilburn) Lefevre, 79, passed away early Thursday morning at Elizabeth Scott Community in Springfield Township, where she had resided for the past year. She greatly enjoyed the frequent company of her devoted daughters and grandson, and other family and friends. As her health declined and she came under Hospice care, they were a constant presence at her side.
Vickie was a life-long Toledo-area resident. Born January 28, 1947, to Bruce "Smokey" Kilburn and Virginia (Hemmig) Kilburn, she grew up with her many siblings in the North End, graduating from Woodward High School in 1965. With a family of her own, she worked multiple jobs for several years before starting a long career with Cauffiel Machinery and its several regional subsidiaries, serving as comptroller of the companies. She moved to northern Wood County, where her daughters attended Lake Local Schools, before she settled in Perrysburg Township for the next 30 years. Vickie adopted the Catholic faith in the early 1990s, and became a long-time active parishioner at St. Patrick's of Heatherdowns Church, where she developed many close friendships over the years. She was especially honored to be part of the church funeral choir for many years.
Her greatest joy was always her family, her daughters, Ginny and Amy, and her grandson, Chad, who was the light of her life. From his baby years to adulthood, they shared a special bond, and enjoyed many activities in their time spent together. Including their "leaf-peeping" drives each Fall season. Vickie was a kind, generous, selfless and compassionate woman who possessed an endearing innocence throughout her life. She was loved deeply and will be missed dearly by those she leaves behind.
Vickie was preceded in death by two siblings who died in early childhood, and by sisters Donna, Patsy, Beverly & Sharon, brothers Dan and Ron, and her daughters' father, Jerry Lefevre. She also was also preceded in death by her beloved fiancé, Gerry Shaffer. She is survived by her daughters Ginny (Jon) Venner and Amy Newell, grandson Chad Newell (Ayden), and was a proud expectant great-grandmother of Chad and Ayden's son, due in August. She is also survived by sister and dearest friend, Terry (Paul) Byersmith, brother Bob (Chris) Kilburn, sisters-in-law, Freddi Kilburn and "Red" Kilburn, dozens of nieces and nephews, and many special friends and neighbors, including Howard Cassidy, Jeannie & Dennis Rife, Jan Edwards, and the ladies in her dinner group. Vickie also had a special place in her heart for her Shih-tzu companions over the years, WeePee, Alex, Sadie & Mandy, who will provide renewed comfort to her.
Friends and family will be received Monday, June 29, 2026, from 4-7 pm. at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeal Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 10 a.m. at St. Patricks of Heatherdowns Church, 4201 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH 43614. Burial will follow in Swanton Township Cemetery.
