Vicki Snyder

August 15, 1952 — October 27, 2025

Vicki J. Snyder, 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 27, 2025 after succumbing to Leiomyosarcoma.

Vicki was a caring and wonderful mother, grandmother, loyal friend, and wife. She was a staunch advocate for children with developmental disabilities.

She received her Bachelor’s Degree and Masters degree from BGSU and briefly taught at BGSU in the Education Department.

She began her career as an Intervention Specialist, formerly known as a Special Education Teacher. Teaching children with developmental disabilities was her passion and this passion grew when her sister, Penny, was born with Down Syndrome. Vicki and her sister, Tina Karvel, became co guardians of Penny who lived a full and loving life.

After teaching for several years, she became a Special Education Supervisor at the Lucas County Educational Service Center. She later became a Director of Children’s Options at Lucas County MRDD which is now known as Lucas County Development Disabilities.

Her passion for serving children with disabilities was passed down to her daughters, Jennifer and Sara, who also became Intervention Specialists.

Vicki will be remembered as a selfless, empathetic, and enjoyable person. She loved her family and friends, especially her beloved euchre group. She loved music, concerts, movies, and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s events. If one needed her assistance, she was always there to help without exception.

In January of 1978, she met her husband, Bruce, at a restaurant, 5 days after the Blizzard of 1978. They were inseparable and spent nearly 48 years together in a wonderful marriage.

She is survived by her mother, Kathleen Cookson, her husband, Bruce Snyder, and her children, Jeremy Snyder (Leslee), Jennifer Guerrero (Robert) and Sara Snyder. She also adored her grandchildren, Ava and Isaac Guerrero, who also survive.

The numerous visits, texts and phone calls from sisters in law and friends always lifted her spirits.

The family is grateful for the incredible and compassionate care she received at the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center in Ann Arbor for nearly 4 years.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the University of Michigan Sarcoma Clinic at the Rogel Cancer Center in Ann Arbor or Hospice of N.W. Ohio.

Visitation will be at the Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home at 222 E. South Boundary in Perrysburg, Ohio on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 3 pm to 6 pm.
