Vicki Sue Hoepf

June 16, 1951 — December 23, 2022

Vicki Sue Hoepf, 71, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2022. She was born on June 16, 1951, to her late parents, Willis and Doris (Barney) Detter, where she grew up in Wauseon, Ohio alongside her two sisters.

Vicki attended Whitmer High School and graduated in 1969. She began her career as a sales representative working for Handleman Record Distributor’s until her retirement years later. Vicki met her future husband, Lonnie, around 1981 and was married to him by 1983. Together they raised their only son, Zachary, who she dearly loved. She retired shortly after his birth and embraced the role as homemaker and mother wholeheartedly. She loved gardening, going to estate sales, and writing poetry in her spare time.

Vicki had many hobbies she enjoyed including reading fiction books, especially the Harry Potter Series and Lord of The Rings, playing Bingo around town, and occasionally enjoying her favorites of red wine, cheesecake, and Netty’s chili dogs. She was truly the loudest voice in the room and rarely kept her opinions to herself. She was very family oriented, always staying concerned about how others in the family were doing. At times, her husband and son would refer to her as rather eccentric and antique in the best of ways. She was knowledgeable and wise, always counseling her younger sisters, and had a great presence within her family. Among the many things that her family loved about her, her husband Lonnie will miss her questioning him on how he golfed that day, and her son, Zachary, will miss hearing the words “Zachary Vincent!” in her memorable voice, whenever he had messed up. She was really a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend, and will be extremely missed by everyone who knew her.

Vicki is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Lonnie Hoepf; son, Zachary Hoepf; sisters, Kristine Detter, Connie (Jay) Cherry; nephew, Ryan Wittman; great nephew, Jonathan Wittman; best friends, Carol Pickett, Lottie.

Vicki was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Linus Hoepf.
