Vernus Edward Frusher

Vernus Edward Frusher, age 83, of Toledo and Dayton, OH passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2009 in the Swan Pointe Care Center under the care of Odyssey Hospice with his loving family by his side. He was born July 9, 1925 in Whitehouse, OH to Raymond Edmund and Orra May Apel Frusher. Vernus served in WWII as a Pfc in the US Army. He was stationed in the Pacific and European Campaigns and decorated with many medals. Vernus and his first wife had four children. He was employed at Rossford Ordinance as a mechanic and then the State of Ohio as a maintenance supervisor. Vernus was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. In 1984 he met Martha Owens and they married in 1988 in Dayton, OH. She introduced him to the world of camping, which they enjoyed for many years with their closest friends. He was preceded in death by son, James Frusher; stepson, Michael and his former wife, Patricia Ann Managhan-Frusher; and brothers, Doral, Lowell and twin Vernon. Vernus is survived by his wife, Martha Ellen Frusher; sister, Mary Russell; his very special daughter-in-law, Judith; sons, Richard Cathy, Donald Paula and Deborah Blake Laviolette; also stepchildren Carol Richard Allen, Patty David Smith and Cheryl David Brooks. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and dear friends. Family and friends may visit Friday from 4-7 pm in the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, OH. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:00 am in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Roth Cemetery, Monclova, OH.
