Vernonia Babe Bellair of Toledo, Ohio, and Zephyrhills, Florida passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011 in Kingston Care Center, Sylvania. She was born in Clinton, Iowa to William and Anna Woods. The widow of Jerry Bellair, Babe and her husband owned and operated many Toledo area establishments: Wernerts Corners Hy-Speed Gas Station, B& J Carry Out, B & J Carry-Out and Gas Station on Bennett Rd., Sandy-Pat Dairy Bar in Wernerts Corners, Babe & Jerrys Tavern, B & K Rootbeer Stand, Mobil Gas Station on Alexis Rd., B & J Trailer Sales on Gay St., and B & J Trailer Sales and Mobile Home Park on Secor Rd. They also owned the Bellair Manor Mobile Home Park in St. Petersburg, FL. Babe was a member of the Avion Travelcade Club where she was very active, the Ohio Mobile Home Association, the Tone and Tonettes of Zephyrhills, Crystal Lakes Singing Womens Group in Zephyrhills, and the Cairo Court No. 97 in Zephyrhills. Babe volunteered at Chester W. Taylor Elementary School helping the students with reading and math. She wintered in Florida for 57 years. She loved to travel at the drop of a hat and really enjoyed cruises. Her most recent trip was to Australia and New Zealand. Babe is survived by her daughters, Patricia Louie Wueller of Toledo and Sandra Ronald Tertel of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Michael Wueller Billy Jones, Sharon Marc Helfers, Craig Wueller, Steven Jenifer Tertel, and Nicholas Donna Tertel; great-grandchildren, Nikki Martinez-Wueller, Kristin and Aimee Wueller, Karina and Paetyn Tertel and Taylor Koopman; and great-great-grandchildren, Dylan, Michela, and Alexis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; parents; and sisters, Marie Lake, Mozetta Hallberg and Wilma Alt. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2 to 9 pm at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd.. Prayers will begin at the funeral home on Friday at 9:30 am followed by the Funeral Mass at St. Clements Catholic Church, 3030 Tremainsville Rd. at 10 am. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
