Vernon R. Wilbur, 64, of Elmore, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022 at Mercy Health- St. Charles Hospital, Oregon. He was born in Amherst, Ohio on May 12, 1957 to the late Barbara (Jones) Wilbur and Clair Wilbur. He graduated from Genoa High School in 1976. After school he worked various jobs, ending his career at Heidtman Steel.
Vern lived his life with his Sam Elliott stash and his Clint Eastwood smile. He loved any kind of racing, but dirt track was his favorite and he would talk to you for hours about it. He loved his Cleveland Browns and believed every year was “The Year”. But more than anything, Vern was a family man and his family was his everything.
Vern is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Kay (Klavinger) Wilbur; children, Chad Wilbur, Nicole (Kirk) Nissen, Justin (Katie) Wilbur and Daniel Wilbur; grandchildren, Kayle Wilbur, Taylor Wilbur, Faith Nissen, Madison Nissen, Chad Wilbur Jr., Jordan Wilbur, Kolten Nissen, Riley Wilbur, Mason Wilbur and Mylah Wilbur; and siblings, Jeff (Nancy) Wilbur, Larry (Wendy) Wilbur, Greg Wilbur, Peg Wilbur, Kathleen (Gail) Miller and Lindsay Wilbur.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepmom, Judy Wilbur.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, Genoa from 2-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, January 21, 2022 at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Don Giesmann officiating. Memorial contributions in Vern’s name can be given to the American Lung Association or to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
