Vernon Lee Vogt, 72, passed away on October 16, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, a family who loved him dearly, and a legacy that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Born on November 5, 1953, in Toledo, Ohio, to Milo and Jaqueline Vogt, Vern lived life to the fullest, finding joy in his many passions, the beauty of the world around him, and, most importantly, the love of his family.
Vern was a lifelong sports enthusiast who proudly cheered on the Ohio State Buckeyes, Detroit Tigers, and Cleveland Browns. He spent many years managing bowling alley's in the Toledo area, where he developed his own impressive bowling skills and achieved several perfect 300 games. He later retired from Hollywood Casino, where he worked as a dealer.
While Vern had many interests, his greatest joy in life was his family, especially his five beloved grandchildren. Nothing meant more to him than being there for them. Whether they were performing with their school bands or competing in sporting events, Vern was always there to watch, cheer them on, and share in their accomplishments. He took immense pride in each of them, and their happiness brought him more joy than words could ever express. His grandchildren will forever remember the love, encouragement, and unwavering support he gave them.
Christmas held a particularly special place in Vern's heart. He loved shopping for gifts and making the holiday magical for his grandchildren. For him, Christmas was about more than presents; it was about the happiness of his family, the excitement of the season, and the memories made together. The love he poured into those moments will remain a treasured part of his family's holiday traditions for years to come.
Vern also enjoyed an active lifestyle and found freedom and happiness on two wheels, riding long distances with the Maumee Valley Adventurers. His love of nature extended to photography, where he had a special talent for capturing the beauty around him. As the family photographer, he preserved countless moments that might otherwise have passed with time. Through his photographs, those memories will continue to bring smiles, tell stories, and keep special moments alive for generations to come.
Vern believed in making the most of life, embracing experiences, following his passions, and creating memories along the way. He was fortunate enough to complete his bucket list, fulfilling dreams and enjoying the adventures that made his life uniquely his own. His journey was filled with the things he loved, the places he explored, and the people who made it all meaningful.
Though Vern's life has come to an end, the love he shared and the memories he created will never fade. He leaves behind a family who will miss his presence, cherish his stories, and carry his memory forward in the everyday moments that remind them of him. His legacy lives on in the grandchildren he so proudly supported, the photographs he captured, the adventures he enjoyed, and the countless ways he showed his love.
Vern will forever be remembered for the life he lived, the memories he made, and the love he gave. He may no longer be here to cheer from the sidelines, capture a family moment, or make Christmas a little more special, but his love will remain with his family always.
Vern is survived by his son, Brian (Jodi) Vogt; stepsons, Dave and Mike Hall; five grandchildren, Anthony Hall, Bryant Hall, Blake Hall, Chase Hall, and Mila Vogt; siblings, Vicki (Fred) Wiseman, Tracy Dagostino, and Kevin Vogt; two nephews; and one niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Bob; his partner of 35 years, Brenda Hall; stepson, Randy; and sister-in-law, Audrey Vogt.
Family and friends may visit on Friday, October 23, 2026, from 5-8 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave., Toledo, Ohio. A funeral service celebrating Vern's life will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 915 N. Reynolds Rd., Toledo, Ohio.
