Vernon Jarrell Green

Vernon Jarrell Green passed on to the presence of his Lord Jesus on Thursday, September 5, 2013. He was born January 27, 1930 to Horace D. and Elizabeth Jarrell Green and grew up on a farm in Obion County, Tennessee. On New Years Day 1949 he married Lela Ethel Prather. Early in their marriage they relocated to the Northern United States and settled in Oak Harbor in 1956. They raised 3 children and nurtured 4 grandchildren at their Park Street home. Vern was a Journeyman Tool & Die Maker retiring from Kelsey Hayes. He enjoyed watching his childrens and grandchildrens school and athletic activities. Vern was a 60 year member of the Oak Harbor Masonic Lodge, a member of Oak Harbor Chapter Royal Arch Masons, the Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo, the Order of the Eastern Star, Port Clinton Chapter and a longtime member of the Oak Harbor United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Lela, parents, brothers Elbert and Haywood, sisters Opal and Mildred. He is survived by sisters-in-law Vidus Green and Shirley R.C. Crews and many nieces and nephews. Dad is also lovingly missed by his children Pat Michael Gostanian, Keith Debbie Green, and Anita Brower; grandchildren: Katherine Noah Myerholtz, Jennifer Dan Schmidt; Serena and Maia Brower; and one beloved great-grandchild Kaylin Myerholtz and future great-grandchild Baby Schmidt. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, September 8, 2013, with a Masonic service by Oak Harbor Lodge, at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. Burial will be at a later date in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde, Ohio. Memorial donations for Vern may be given to the Browning Masonic Community; 8883 Browning Drive; Waterville, OH 43566.
