VERNON GEORGE FREEMAN Vernon G. Freeman, 91, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at his home. Vernon was born June 10, 1924 in Toledo, Ohio to George E. and Marie (Beroske) Freeman. He served our country in WWII in the United States Army Air Corps as a Staff Sergeant. Vernon married Betty Hillabrand on August 5, 1944 and she preceded him in death on September 5, 2013. Vernon was a member of First United Methodist Church in Perrysburg where he sang for many years in the choir. He was also a member of the Perrysburg VFW Post 6170. He enjoyed spending time with his family and eating at Bob Evans and Cracker Barrel. He is survived by his children, Nancy J. (Robert) May, Robert T. Freeman and Dr. Mark A. (Karen) Freeman; grandchildren, Charlotte Freeman, Emily Freeman, Thomas Freeman, Heather Tompkins, Jason Freeman, Jeremy Freeman, Heidi Freeman, Gavin (Madeline) May and Jeffrey (Hiromi) May; ten great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and sister-in-laws, Rosemary Hillabrand and Marilyn Freeman. Along with his wife Betty, he was preceded in death by his brother, William R. Freeman and sister, Georgianna Hazard. Friends will be received Friday, May 27, 2016 from 3-8 P.M. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg (419-874-3133) where funeral services will be held Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Robert E. May, officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Meigs Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 200 W. Second Street, Perrysburg, OH 43551.
