Verleah M. Porath

Verleah M. Porath, 88, recently of Mobile, Alabama, and formerly of Genoa, died Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at Mobile Nursing Rehab Center in Alabama. She was born March 30, 1927, to Louis and Winifred (Vellequette) Barnes. On December 11, 1948, in Oak Harbor, Ohio, she married Frederick W. Porath, Jr. and he preceded her in death June 6, 1995. Verleah was a 1945 graduate of Salem-Oak Harbor High School. For several years she worked at the former Hay-Lo Market in Genoa and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Genoa. She was an avid bowler for many years and enjoyed playing many different card games. Verleah is survived by her son, Thomas F. (Kitty) Porath of Mobile, daughters, Karen A. Hosley of Millbury, Kathy S. Porath of Woodville and Tracy L. Childress of Rossford; grandchildren, Devon Childress, Nathan Childress, Christopher Hosley, and Lori Hosley; and great grandchildren, Makayla Bowen and Lily Hutchens Visitation for Verleah will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Sunday, January 3, 2016, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St. Genoa. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 4, 2016, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church with interment to follow in Elliston Cemetery, Graytown.
