Veda Ann Miller

Jul 4, 1937 — Jul 21, 2026

Veda Francis Miller of Point Place, Rossford and Perrysburg, Ohio, beloved Mom, Gram, Aunt and friend to so many, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026.

Veda grew up in Point Place, and was a "firecracker baby", born on the 4th of July 1937. She attended Waite High School, graduating in 1955. While there, Veda founded the all-girls social club, The Jades. A few years after graduation, a friend's engagement went sour, and Veda moved wither her friend to California. Veda lived in Burbank, CA for several months and was glamorous. Her mother's health eventually brought her back to Toledo, and a few years later, she was introduced to Bob Miller. Veda and Bob were married in 1963 and raised two children, Todd and Christine Miller. Most of those years, living with her family in Rossford Ohio, Veda was known as "Mom Miller" to many of her kids' friends, never missing a sporting or community event. You always saw her in the stands cheering!

Veda's career was in Interior Design, as the office secretary for a few firms throughout Toledo, but most importantly, Bruce Roberts Interiors. For over 40 years, her face was the first you saw when you'd walk up the stairs of the studio. Her colleagues Bruce, Erwin, Todd, Helen, Don, Marilyn, Leetha (amongst many others) became her family.

Veda and Bob were proud members of the Frick and Frack golf club, founded in 1968, with seven other couples, including lifelong friends The Pidcocks and The Dulisnki's. The Frick and Fracker's spent many weekends away golfing and partying. In the end, were each other's best friends.

As the family historian, Veda loved to tell stories and recalled celebrating the end of WWII with her sister Bonnie, running up and down the street banging pots and pans, and listening the Lake Erie freighters blow their horns. In the 1990's, she was introduced to genealogy by a distant cousin, and researching our family tree became her passion. Veda would often share old family relics, stories, newspaper clippings and Facebook updates about the Francis & Miller family lore.

In 2005 her life changed forever, with the birth of "the twins", her grandchildren Tessa & Nick Miller. They were the light of her life. Veda's life calling was being "Gram". From birth to college, she immersed herself in their lives. She could be seen driving them all over Toledo and never missing a single event. Her cooking and hugs were endless. "Help Gramma to the car" she would say upon leaving many dinners and events and would get extra hugs.

Aside from her family, her greatest joy was her faith in God and The Lutheran Church of the Master congregation. This month marked 50 years of membership. Her LCM friends were her family, and she spent much of her social time at church events. From services on Sunday to the annual rummage sale, to playing euchre, and watching movies, her presence was steady. She was a true woman of God.

Veda was preceded in death by her parents, Grace and Harold "Babe" Francis; her husband Robert Miller, and siblings Leonard, Dale, Donna, Clair and Bonnie; and in-laws Jim, Ray, Eileen, Neil, Sue, Jeananne, Gene, Ethel, Dick, John and Bill.

Veda leaves behind her family legacy through her children Todd (Dr. Ann Marie Wolfe) Miller of Holland, Ohio and Christine Miller of Upper Arlington, Ohio. Grandchildren Tessa Despina Mae Miller and Nicholas Earle Miller; "Mom Miller" honorary kids Albert Sallee and Ivory Anderson. "Aunt Veda" to so many, but especially close to Kathy, Cindy, Stacy, Susan, Dale, Ronnie, Kim, Jim, Mark, Bridget Matt, Scott, Betty, Chip and Becky. More than just a mom of a friend to Dean, Jake, Danielle, Kate, Audrey and so many others. Her grand dog Ace, and cats Bunny and Luna will miss her. She was everyone's favorite.

In closing, Veda lived independently for almost 89 years, what a blessing! We would like to offer our sincere gratitude to every single person and the Kingston Rehab facility in Perrysburg for their care, and especially the many walks outside; and to Aime, Clint and the team at Sincere Hospice. They were able to help give her a truly peaceful passing.
