Ursula Marie Strausbaugh

Ursula M. Strausbaugh (Joseph) passed away peacefully after a long illness in her home in Sylvania, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tom, and sons, Timothy and Steven. Ursula is survived by her children, Carrie (Bob) Millen, Lori (James) Hall, Doug (Angie) Strausbaugh, Greg (Kelly) Strausbaugh, and Mark Strausbaugh. She was blessed with twenty-one grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Urs lived a full life blessed with many great friends and touched deeply the lives of everyone she met. Urs graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1956 as Class President and continued to be involved in organizing class reunions. She attended St. Vincent School of Nursing and Mary Manse College, where she graduated as a registered nurse in 1959 and continued working as a nursing supervisor. She then went to Toledo Hospital and became director of 7 South, a cardiac stepdown unit. She was very proud of her co-workers and developed lifelong friendships in her 45 years of nursing.

After retirement, Urs cherished her time with family, cooking and hosting her annual Syrian dinner, baking her easter coffee cakes, and making world-famous Christmas baklava, which she graciously shared with everyone. Some of her greatest joys were playing cards, bankrupting casinos, and watching her children and grandchildren compete in sports. Urs was devoted to St. Joe's Catholic Church in Sylvania, Ohio.

Her family expresses gratitude to Nancy, Ally, Sara, and Olivia, whose exceptional support enabled her to remain comfortably at home, as she desired.

Friends will be received on Friday, December 22, 2023, from 5-8 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, OH 43623, where a Scripture Service will take place at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, until the time of Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
