Ulysses Howard Stewart was born August 21, 1937 in Arcadia, Florida to Edna Limbricks and Cooper Stewart. He departed this life on December 30, 2019 at Flower Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He moved to Sylvania, Ohio in 1947. He attended Burnham High School after which he enlisted in the Army serving four years in Straubing, Germany. He then went on to attend and graduate from the Toledo Bible College, earning two Bachelors degrees. He served as Pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church of Swanton, Ohio for 25 years. He also served as a counselor at the Cherry Street Mission for a period of time. He was active in the Baptist Ministers Conference of Toledo until his health declined, teaching several courses through the American Bible College Extension Program. He was honored to conduct revivals in Florida, New Mexico, Indiana, Mississippi, and Ohio. At the time of his passing, he was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Otis Jones. He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 53 years Kathleen Ann Stewart; sons, Phillip (Kim), Robin, Myron (Stephanie) and daughters, Jeana and Nicole; grandchildren, Deidra, Desiree, Juan, Janelle, Jovan, Jerry, JaIna several great grandchildren; Goddaughter Loren (Christopher), special family friends, the Garretts and the Youngs. He also leaves behind two cherished granddogs, Powder and Jersey. Special thanks to the Emergency staff at Flower Hospital. Reverend Stewarts strongest desire was for people to come to know Jesus Christ as savior. His favorite verse was Romans 5:8, But God commandeth his love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.). Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Union Grove Baptist Church, 3232 Nebraska Ave., with family hour beginning at 10:00 a.m.
