Twila Mae Groll

Twila Mae Venzke Groll, 84, of Genoa, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2010, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. Twila Mae was born February 27, 1926, in Genoa, Ohio, to William G. and Elsie M. Brandt Venzke. On December 9, 1943, in Genoa she married Henry Groll, who preceded her in death May 3, 1999. Recently Twila Mae was a resident of the Genoa Retirement Village. Prior to that, she resided in Walbridge, Ohio, for seven years and Northwood, Ohio, for 47 years. In addition to raising her family, Twila Mae worked at multiple jobs, but primarily in the housekeeping department of St. Charles Hospital in Oregon, Ohio, for many years. Twila Mae loved to travel. This included early family vacations to the Smoky Mountains and the East Coast, camping in Yellowstone National Park, train trips to Denver and Las Vegas, vacations to Hawaii and Mexico, and cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska. Twila Mae also enjoyed trying her luck on the slot machines. This meant numerous trips to Windsor, Detroit, Colorado, and Las Vegas. Twila is survived by her children, Becky S. Randy Sanderlin Butchbach of Marysville, MI, Rick A. Vickie Groll of Maumee, and Rob L. Jonathan Patton Groll of Denver, CO. Three children preceded her in death: Charles, Linda in 1997, and Candy in 2007. She had 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Twila had 11 brothers and sisters and is survived by Esther Ward of Fort Myers, FL, Elwood Bud Venzke of Fostoria, and Gerald Venzke of Detroit. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2010, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory of Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2010, with interment to follow in Clay Township Cemetery.
