Tracy Alan Colston

August 15, 1961 — November 13, 2025

Port Clinton

Tracy (Alan) Colston, age 64, of Port Clinton, OH passed away on November 13th, while at the Cleveland Clinic. Tracy was born on August 15th, 1961 in Port Clinton, OH to Calvin and Judy (Havener) Colston. He graduated from Port Clinton High School in 1979. He married the love of his life Terri Colston on March 24th, 1990.

Tracy was the lifeblood of a city in which he spent his entire existence. He began as a celebrated athlete who eventually became a member of the PCHS Athletic Hall of Fame. He is a member of the 1000-point club and still holds the record for most points scored in one basketball game with 44. After completing an illustrious high school career, he went on to star at Capital University where he also became a member of their 1000-point club.

After college, Tracy moved back to Port Clinton and began working with his father at Port Clinton Lumber. During this time, his evolution as a staunch pillar in the community began to take shape. His passion for sports led him to join the PCHS basketball coaching staff, he spent time as the director of Port Clinton Youth Baseball, VP of PC Athletic Boosters, and was a member of the Elks where he enjoyed directing the annual Hoop-Shoot.

In 1997 he purchased and operated a sporting goods store called The Fanatic in Fremont, OH. For the next 10 years he managed the store while spending countless hours as a coach for all of his sons’ youth sports teams. In 2005, he took over as the City of Port Clinton’s Parks and Rec Director and eventually finished as the Safety Service Director. Tracy’s career with the City of Port Clinton lasted 21 years and spanned 5 mayors. His ability to bring people together and commitment to putting others needs before his own allowed him to have an incalculable impact on the community.

Tracy cared most about three things in the world: his family, his community, and sports. This clarity allowed him to spend his entire life devoted to making sure all three were in a better place after he left us. He was reliable, kind, hard-working, he listened, and he always acted with integrity. His free time was best spent playing with his children/grandchildren or having his many friends over to watch his favorite Ohio sports team play.

He was preceded in death by his parents Calvin and Judith Colston, his brother, Paul Colston and survived by his loving wife of 35 years Terri (Schmidt) Colston, sons Derek (Kayla) Colston and Cory (Megan) Colston, and grandchildren Adelyn, Brooks, and Evelyn.

Visitation will be held at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton, Ohio on Monday, November 17, 2025 from 2-8 pm. Additional visitation will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, 207 Adams Street, Port Clinton, Ohio, on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 from 10 am until the Memorial Service at 11 am, with Pastor Jarrod Schaaf officiating.
