Todd R. Bieniek, age 50, peacefully passed away late Saturday evening, January 16th, surrounded by his loving family after a 9 year battle with Melanoma. Todd was a 1983 graduate of Roy C. Start High School, where he excelled at football and baseball. He was a 3 year starting varsity quarterback as well as an All-City selection at catcher. It was through sports that he made many friendships. A very special group of people continue to remain close and some of them have been loyal friends for 40 plus years. His love of football continued as he went on to coach quarterbacks at both Start and St. Johns Jesuit. Although his athletic and coaching achievements were many, he considered his greatest accomplishment in life his family. A father figure for his siblings, a loving son, and an amazing husband and father, were his greatest attributes. The unconditional love he held for his family gave him the motivation to continue to fight. Todd made it his mission to be at every school event and game his boys were involved in. Even as his illness progressed he set goals. With Jodis support and help from Dr. Kasunic and staff, Todd was able to overcome a relapse of his illness to see Matt graduate from high school and Jeremy earn his varsity letter in golf. In addition to those wonderful attributes, Todd was also a tireless worker. He was employed by Zeres, Inc. for nearly 30 years before his illness forced him to retire. Todd is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Jodi; sons, Matthew and Jeremy, mother Barbara (Koechley) Sidle, sister Nikkie (Doug) Pearson, and brothers Tony and Troy (Carmon) Bieniek; mother and father-in -law, Ron Donna Sape; loving brothers and sisters-in-law; as well as 2 Godchildren and many nieces nephews. Friends may visit the family on Monday, January 18th from 2-8pm where Todd will be shown at Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 19th, at 11am at the same location. Memorials may be made to the Melanoma research Foundation P.O. Box 759329 Baltimore, MD 21275-9329.
