Tina Mary Satterthwaite-Lawson

June 22, 1925 — April 16, 2009

Tina Satterthwaite Lawson, age 83, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2009 at the Perrysburg Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Born June 22, 1925, in Toledo, she was the adored and only child of Dr. Cyrus and Clare Noble. After graduating from Scott High School, she went on to experience Summer Stock theatre in Massachusetts. She refined her study of Journalism at Northwestern University, University of Chicago and Columbia University. Returning to Toledo she worked as a reporter for the Toledo Times. Eventually she became the Home Furnishings Editor for the Toledo Blade where she worked for 25 years. She won numerous awards for her work in journalism including the national Dorothy Dawe award in 1958, 1963 and 1966. She also received numerous recognitions for her writing by the Ohio Newspaper Womens Association. In 1947 she met and married James Satterthwaite and together they raised four children, celebrated life, loved to travel and spent as much time as possible on or near the water. They loved art, laughter and a great party. Jim died in 1971. Tina married David Lawson in 1972 and moved to Chicago where she sold Real Estate. Tina and Dave eventually moved to Cincinnati where she became and Interior Designer for Clossons Furniture. David died in 1982. In 1983 John Stewart became part of her life in Cincinnati and was her partner until his death in 2008. Through all her joys and sorrows were her faithful dogs, her love of nature, her belief in personal rights and freedoms, her love of literature, and her respect of family. She is survived by her children, Stacey Harley Kripke, David Ann Marie Satterthwaite, Christine Richard Raleigh, Sally Tony Guastaferro; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and her dog, Jet. Family and friends may visit Sunday, April 19, 2009 from 1:00 pm until the time of the funeral service at 3:00 pm in the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, OH.
