Thurman L. Hicks, Sr., 68, of Oak Harbor, died early Tuesday morning, August 11, 2009, in H.B. Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton. He was born October 10, 1940, in Bolen, Kentucky, the son of Elbert and Hester Bolen Hicks. On July 1, 1966, in Oak Harbor he married Inez M. Hurst and she survives. Thurman worked as a welder at White Rock Quarry in Clay Center, Ohio. He was a member of the Port Clinton Bible Methodist Church, where he was very active. Thurman also enjoyed fishing and woodworking. In addition to his, wife, Inez, Thurman is survived by his daughters, Laura Ann Dana Anderson of Oak Harbor and Cheryl Cox of Michigan; his sons, Thurman, Jr., David and Robert Hicks all of Oak Harbor; one grandson, two brothers and two sisters. His parents, three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2009, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Oak Harbor. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2009. Interment will take place in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorials for Thurman may be given to the Port Clinton Bible Methodist Church, 150 Maple St., Port Clinton, OH 43452.
