Thurman Dick Brown

Thurman Dick Brown, age 79, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2010, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. Dick was born March 4, 1930, in Brimfield, IN, to Noah and Mabel Brown. In 1957 he married Luella McDermott in Toledo, OH where he worked as a truck driver for Anderson Motor Company. Dick was a Sergeant during WWII as a Constable in the US Army and was a member of the VFW Post #606. His love for adventure took him fishing, race car driving, on hot air balloons, flying planes and jumping out of them at the age of 71. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Luella and siblings, Leroy, Junior, Wayne, Doris and Adda. He is survived by his brother, Robert Donna Brown; children, Roxanna Brown Pernia, John Michael Bonnie Brown, Robert Alan Brown, James William Sandy Brown; his niece, Kathy Jeff Melvin; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and dear friends, Rosie Matt Harvey and Ruby Middaugh. Dick Brown has left behind a legacy of love and strength that will shine everyday in the faces of his family. He was the greatest man we will ever know. Friends may visit the family on Monday from 2:00-9:00 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Avenue west of Corey Rd. with a VFW Service at 7:00 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. by our long time family friend, Pastor Kay Laraby.
