Thomas J. Zwyer

Thomas J. Zwyer, 74, of Monclova Ohio, passed away October 5, 2017 at St. Lukes Hospital. Born February 8, 1943, he was the son of Raymond and Thelma Zwyer. He married Mary Paulette (Gross) Zwyer on June 11, 1966. In the 1960s Tom served in the 983 Army Reserve and for 44 years managed Ray Zwyer and Sons Poultry and Produce Farm. After closing the business in 2004, he went to work at Finish Master in Toledo for 6 years, retiring in 2010. Tom enjoyed hunting as well as restoring International Harvester tractors. He was particularly proud of his work on his fathers very first tractor. He was a member of Ohio Chapter 6 IH Harvester Collectors Club and an avid follower of tractor shows throughout the country. Tom was a life-long parishioner of St. Josephs Maumee where he shared many beloved friendships. Tom is survived by his mother, Thelma; wife Paulette; children John Zwyer (Elena Hartman) and Cathy Zwyer (Andrew Kalmar); grandsons Caleb and Carter Pant and Roman Nikolaev; and siblings Joanne (Tom) Klumm, Janice (Joe) Rothman, Mike (Marilyn) Zwyer and Robin (Gary) Hagemeyer. He was preceded in death by his father. Friends will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St. Maumee on Monday from 2-8 PM where a Scripture Service will be held at 7 PM. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday at 10 AM in the funeral home followed by the funeral mass at St. Josephs Church in Maumee at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow in Roth Memorial Cemetery, Monclova. The family suggests memorials to the missionary work of Sr. Carol Gross in the Dominican Republic or the Alzheimers Association of Northwest Ohio.
