Thomas G. Whitten

Thomas G. Whitten, 68, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at H.B. Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, OH, after a courageous battle with cancer. Tom was born on July 06, 1948 in Chelsea, MA, the son of Charles E. and Ann (Hawkes) Whitten. Tom was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War from 1970 to 1973. On October 28, 1972 in Fort Hamilton, NY, he married Beverly Sue Trent and she survives. Tom worked for Port Clinton Lumber Co., Standard Products and retired from Toft Dairy in 2014. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Tom was a former member of the Port Clinton Fire Dept, a life member and past Commander of the V.F.W. Homer D. Gardner Post #2480, a life member of the David W. Leonard Aerie #2295 and a member of the Amvets Post #17 in Sandusky. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Those left to cherish his memory are: Loving Wife of 44 years: Beverly Sue Whitten; Sons: Thomas Whitten and Justin (Teresa) Whitten; Grandchildren: Amelia Aiden; Mother-in-Law: Beatrice Trent; Brothers-in-Law, Sisters-in-Law, Nieces and Nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister. Visitation will be 9-11am, Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Port Clinton, OH, followed by a Memorial service, conducted by Father John Missler at 11:00AM in the funeral home. Interment will be in LaCarpe Cemetery, Lacarne, OH with military graveside honors by the V.F.W.. Memorial donations in memory of Tom can be given to the family.
