Thomas “Tom” Edward McGuckin
01/01/1941 – 06/21/2022

Thomas Edward McGuckin, 81, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2022. Tom grew up in Detroit, Michigan and graduated from Holy Redeemer High School (1959).  Following graduation, Tom served in the US Navy.   After completing his military service, he returned to Detroit and began working at the Ford Motor Company where he met his wife, Alice. They shared more than 58 years together until Alice passed away last year.

Tom’s career focused on traffic and logistics management with the Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, Woodhaven), American Motors Corporation (Toledo) and Bunting Bearings (Toledo).  Tom studied at Henry Ford Community College and the University of Toledo.  He was always looking for other business opportunities.  As such, Tom and Alice owned and operated the Shoreline Café (Toledo) for nearly 20 years.   After several years running this establishment, he missed the logistics business, so Tom started E&K Contract Haulers, a trucking company, with a very close friend.

Tom’s greatest pride and joy was his family.  He cared deeply about the family he helped raise as well as the family he grew up in.  Tom was the youngest boy in a family of ten, and he often shared stories of the times with his brothers and sisters.  However, the highlight for Tom was making memories with his three sons and their families.  In retirement, Tom spent much time at their lake house in Michigan, where he and Alice smiled and laughed as their grandchildren swam, fished, and jumped on the trampoline.

Tom is survived by his sons, Thomas E. McGuckin Jr. (Beverley), John A. McGuckin (Elena), and Timothy P. McGuckin (Jessica); and his beautiful grandchildren, Connor, Calum, Gavin, Michael, Brandon, Liam, Caroline, and Travis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice McGuckin , and his parents, Joe and Rose McGuckin.

Services for Tom are private.  Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home (Perrysburg).  Condolences may be made to the family online at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com
