Thomas “Tom” V. Stahl, 76, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2023 at Ebeid Hospice after a short illness. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 30, 1946, the son of Ray and Dorothy (Watson) Stahl. He married Joann M. (Yedica) in Monroe, Michigan on July 25, 1966. He spent 30 years working for the Toledo Jeep plant as an inspector for the finished Jeep vehicles.
Tom worked at Jeep for most of his career but also worked at Pexaco Package and for his Uncle Carl Stahl at Forrest Park and Clay Center Auctions. He served in the Ohio National Guard and was honorably discharged. He enjoyed family, all his grandkids and loved all the family gatherings at Olander Park when his children were young. Fun was had by all at the family gatherings at Uncle Gene’s, the Christmas celebrations at Grandma Barb’s and later, the ones they hosted at their home. Tom loved people and drinking his Pabst Blue Ribbon at the Jessie James Bar in Clay Center after the Auctions. He was very mechanically talented at working on cars and remodeling his home, as well as his son’s houses. He helped rebuild houses for two of his sons that had been in fires and completely remodeled them. Tom built Tim and Jeff’s classic cars with their help and made sure they knew every part, how they worked as well as how to put them together, so they worked right. Tom and Joann loved trips to the casino in Mount Pleasant. They were happily married for more than 50 years. The family moved into their home on Butler Street when their children were young, and they all attended school together.
Tom loved drinking coffee every Sunday with his sister, Charlene; Brother, Ray; and Brother-in-Law, Jerry; a ritual they carried out for a long time. Tom also loved his Saturdays with Jeff working in the garage, trips he took with Tim to get supplies for the bar, or beer can shows with Tommy.
Tom was very independent and wanted to do things for himself, he also wanted his family to know how to do things the right way, most generally by showing them. He was a huge Steelers fan and could always give you the stats of his team without hesitation.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Joann; sons, Thomas V. (Danielle) Stahl II, Jeffrey N. (Kimberly) Stahl, and Timothy D. (Lisa) Stahl; 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; brother, David (Trish) Engelhardt; sister, Marsha (Ron) Marion; brothers-in-law, Noel Popp, Lyle Popp, George Yedica, Gene (Rose) Yedica; and sister-in-law, Joyce Yedica. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ray Stahl; and sister, Charlene (Jerry) Arp.
