Thomas Carlton Schafer

Thomas Carlton Schafer, 69, of Southlake, Texas died Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. He was born in Toledo, Ohio to Cornell John and Doris Virginia (Moore) Schafer on March 13, 1947. He graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1965 and The United States Military Academy at West Point in 1969. Tom proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Captain. Tom was a Business Consultant for many years and worked for various companies including his own, Schafer Consulting Network. He was a faithful member of White’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Southlake, Texas. He enjoyed vintage cars, arts and crafts and cooking. Tom loved to be outside gardening and bird watching but he was happiest spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be missed greatly. Tom married his sweetheart, Deborah E. Eber on August 26, 1989 in Williamsburg, Virginia. Together they celebrated their 27th anniversary. Tom is survived by his wife, Deborah Esther Schafer; children, Donald Jeffrey (Mandy) Schafer, Elizabeth Ann (Ryan) Stuzman, Thomas Cornell (Kristen) Schafer, Paul Ellsworth (Angela) McIntosh, First Lt. Andrew Carlton Schafer and Taylor Virginia Schafer; grandson, Reece Thomas Schafer; sister, Cheryl Lynn Schafer and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald Cornell Schafer. Friends will be received at Witzler Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary St., Perrysburg, Ohio 43551 (419-874-3133) on Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM with funeral services to start at Noon.
